Format Example
Website When referencing to the entirety of a website or the website in general no reference list entry is necessary. You just provide the name of the website in text and the URL in parentheses.  The World Health Organization website (https://www.who.int/) contains numerous fact sheets that can quickly be used to find all relevant information on a topic.

Author, A. A. -or- Organization Name. (Year, Month Day). Title of webpage. Site Name. Retrieved Month Day, Year, from URL

General Rules 

  • How to format in-text citations in your document.
  • Use the author-date citation system for direct quotes: (Author Surname, Publication Year)
  • When citing a reference by two authors use an ampersand between their last names: (Last name & Last Name, Publication Year)
  • No authors, organization, or editors listed? Contact library@saskhealthauthority.ca to ask a librarian.
  • When citing a reference by three or more authors use the first authors names followed by et. al.,: (Last name et. al., Publication Year)
  • When quoting a passage or referencing a specific page include the page numbers after the citation number: (Last Name, Publication Year, p. page number) (Last Name, Publication Year, para. paragraph number) (Last Name, Publication Year, table number)
